Notre Dame has a humid, continental climate. Lake Michigan has a significant effect on its climate, including snow in winter and moderate temperatures year round.

[Notre Dame is less than 100 miles outside of Chicago, and shares a similar climate.]  The Chicago area experiences four distinct seasons with warm summers and long, cold winters. On a typical Chicago mid-summer day, humidity is usually moderately high, with temperatures from 78 - 92 degrees.  Winter in Chicago proves variable and fickle, but even in mild winters one experiences bouts of very cold weather.
