Other Important Information: The University of California system is possibly the nation’s premier public university system. Unfortunately it is also probably the most bureaucratic. Accurate information is often difficult to obtain easily or on a timely basis. Prospective students should understand that UCLA offers an extraordinary education at a bargain rate . . . at least for ‘in state’ students. However, they should be prepared to deal with a cumbersome, impersonal and often inflexible bureaucracy throughout their career at UCLA.
